MNDF officer tests positive for COVID-19

National Emergency Operations Center, on Tuesday, announced that the people who had tested positive for COVID-19 in Male’ City included an officer of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

The announcement was made by NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez at the press briefing this evening.

Mabrouq said the rapid response team was working on establishing a link between the officer and exiting cases in Male’.

“In Sha Allah, we will be able to establish how he contract the virus and from whom,” said Mabrouq.

He said he was checking whether the officer had ben someone who had worked in the frontlines of the national emergency response efforts.

Mabrouq said the government had procured as many Personal Protective Equipment as it had the ability to in order to ensure the health and safety of MNDF officers, Maldives Police Service officers and medical professionals from IGMH.

“And we have also arranged separate accommodation for the people working in the frontlines,” said Mabrouq.
