Monitoring mechanisms placed on the island of K. Kaashidhoo have been lifted.
The mechanisms were put in place after an individual in direct contact with a positive case of Covid-19 in Male’ City traveled to the island. The positive case is the first case identified in Male' City.
The mechanisms were lifted after the individual tested negative for the virus twice.
The individual who works at STO had traveled to the island last Saturday, April 11, 2020.
A ban on travel of persons in and out of Kaashidhoo without HPA’s express permission was imposed on April 15. However, even if the mechanisms are lifted, travel restrictions on the island will still remain in place after the government announced a lockdown on the whole country. A ban on inter-island travel is imposed as part of these measures.
