National Emergency Operations Center, on Tuesday, announced healthcare workers, who are on the frontlines of the battle against the spread of COVID-19 in Maldives, will receive overtime, and will soon also be granted an additional allowance.
At the NEOC press briefing on Tuesday night, spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez noted the tireless efforts of healthcare workers.
“The first point is; they will receive OT for overtime work. The second point is; work I in progress to draft a special allowance policy for them,” said Mabrouq.
Mabrouq said the NEOC would release details of the special allowance policy as soon as it was established.
He also noted that many civil servants were working from home with the closure of government offices, while essential workers at government ministries continued to work from office.
“Healthcare sector workers are doing important and hard work in this front. They are out in the frontlines,” said Mabrouq, expressing further appreciation towards healthcare workers.
He said that despite the closure of government offices, the days would continue to be treated as working days, and that the pay of civil servants would not be cut.
