61-year-old arrested for sexual abuse of young girl in southern Maldives

Maldives Police Service, on Wednesday, arrested a suspect in connection to the sexual abuse of a young girl in southern Maldives.

The case was reported to the South Central Police Division on Wednesday.

The suspect in the case, identified as a 61-year-old Maldivian male, was arrested the same day.

The case is under further investigation by the police.

Maldives Police Service has stressed that sexual offenses against children are treated by the agency as serious crimes, and urge against the spread of any information which could reveal the identity of child victims.
