Foreign ministry requests locals in Singapore to remain alert over virus measures

Foreign Ministry of Maldives has advised locals traveling to or living in Singapore to remain alert as the country issues stringent measures to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The government of Singapore has stated that transits and arrivals to the country by foreigners will be halted from midnight March 23 onwards. Foreigners who had departed from the country before the date will also not be allowed to return. This ruling does not apply to workers in the medical profession and the transport sector.

The Maldivian Foreign Ministry, in light of this ruling, has requested locals to remain alert and to clarify information before traveling to the country.

Singapore has confirmed 455 cases of the virus so far that has killed two in the country.

The foreign ministry of Maldives has also previously requested all Maldivians abroad to register at the closest diplomatic missions. Maldivians in Singapore are to register at the Maldivian High Commission in the country.
