Health Ministry, on Thursday, announced plans to build new hospitals in H. A. Dhidhdhdoo and Dh. Kudahuvadhoo as part of the government’s policy to improve the quality of health services across Maldives.
Both Dhidhdhoo and Kudahuvadhoo have health facilities, which will cease services once the new hospitals are built.
Resource plans for the two new hospitals were unveiled by Health Minister Abdulla Ameen in a function at the Maagiri Hotel on Thursday morning.
Both hospitals are 55-bed facilities with 19 OPD consultation rooms, six private rooms, a three-bed ICU, two operation theaters, and eight 12-bed wards.
The hospitals will also have a spacious laboratory, x-ray room and an ultrasound scan room for diagnostic services.
Health Ministry says that under the new plan, hospitals will become spaces where service seekers enjoy a pleasant experience. It said that the private rooms and the venting areas had been specifically designed to fulfill that purpose.
The plan also includes demolishing the old building which had housed the B. Atoll Hospital in B. Eydhafushi and establishing a facility similar to the one planned for Dhidhdhoo and Kudahuvadhoo. A large part of the current B. Atoll Hospital building will continue to be used alongside the new facility.
Health Ministry has already issued an announcement seeking a contractor for the projects.
