Three Maldivians have been arrested with drugs in a raid by the Sri Lankan Police Narcotics Bureau.
The Colombo Gazette newspaper reported on the arrest in Colombo. Reports read that a total of six people were arrested in the raid and four kilos of heroin were also seized. The newspaper cited police sources when it reported that three Maldivians were among those arrested.
Police stated that six men aged between 26 and 28 were arrested and heroin worth 40 million Sri Lankan Rupees were also confiscated. Two cars used by the men were also seized by the authorities. Those arrested will be presented to a court in Dehiwala today.
The number of Maldivians involved in criminal activities in the neighboring country has seen an increase as of lately. Maldivians have previously been arrested on drug cases in the country, while four Maldivians were also recently arrested under the Anti-Terrorism laws of the country.
