PPM has announced that around 1000 forms were received for the party ticket for the upcoming local council elections.

In a news conference regarding the party preparations for the upcoming election, party steering committee member and former MP for Madaveli Muaaz Mohamed Rasheed stated that 1146 forms were received for the party tickets.

The party primaries will see ballot boxes placed in 51 islands from 14 atolls. Primaries will be held for 74 districts.

Muaaz also stated that complaints regarding the voters list where several cases of people being removed from the party registry without their knowledge were received.

“We received 258 complaints after the voter's list was issued. After assessing the complaints, we found out that most of the complaints were regarding long-term members who were removed from the registry without their knowledge,” said Muaaz.

Even with the persistence of such difficulties, voters’ lists will be sent to the majority of islands today.

“Work to send the lists to islands after attending to 80 percent of the complaints are now underway,” said Muaaz who stated that the issue was more difficult to resolve in larger islands. The lists would be sent to these islands by tonight. The party primaries will be held on February 7.
