First batch of bus cards will expire in 2020, replacement services available free of charge

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has announced the first batch of bus cards it issued for transport services in Male’ City, Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’ can only be used for one year, and will need to be replaced once it expires.

Public bus services in between Male’ City, suburban Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’ – which houses the national airport – is provided by MPL.

MPL charges MVR 10 per trip.

Customers who wish to make use of public bus services need to purchase a top-up bus card – introduced by MPL in the beginning of this year. Top-up bus cards are available for MVR 20.

MPL’s media officer, Hassan Shifan told Sun this Tuesdays that the first batch of bus cards sold by MPL has an expiration period of one-year, and that customers had been informed of the fact at the time of purchase.

 He said that customers who wished to replace their bus cards upon expiration may replace their cards with the newer ones – which has a longer five-year expiration period – free of charge.

Replacement services are available from the Greater Male’ Bus Terminal in Male’, or any station which provides bus card top-up services.

Bus card purchase and top up services will be confined to the MTCC Ferry Terminal, the Fahi Plaza shop located in front of the Hulhumale’ Hospital, and the My Maldives Shop in the Dhidhoo Hotel road starting from January 1.
