Records released by Finance Ministry shows the balance in Green Fund, as of the end of November, to be MVR 468.7 million.
According to the records, the State collected MVR 73.1 million as Green Tax in November.
The biggest contribution had been from K. Atoll; with MVR 24.3 million from resorts, MVR 959,369 from guesthouses and MVR 166,424 from hotels.
The second biggest contribution had been from A. Dh. Atoll; with MVR 8.6 million from resorts and MVR 83,791 from guesthouses.
The third biggest contribution had been from A. A. Atoll; with MVR 6.2 million from resorts and MVR 123,108 from guesthouses.
Meanwhile, the State utilized MVR 29.8 million from the Green Fund to finance water and sanitation projects, waste management projects, and power generation projects in November.
The single biggest expenditure had been on the MVR 7.2 million sanitation project in H. A. Muraidhoo.
The State had collected total MVR 831.3 million in Green Tax, and spent total 362.5 million from the Green Fund from January to November.
Green Tax is charged at the rate of USD 6 per tourist per night from resorts, and at the rate of USD 3 per tourist per night from guesthouses.
