Thulusdhoo council has stated that it will halt any activities that celebrate the Christmas holidays on the island, after some announcements to celebrate the Christmas on the island were made.

Thulusdhoo council stated that announcements have been put up on the island regarding irreligious celebrations and that it had also received information of such activities being planned.

“We would like to inform everyone that such (irreligious) celebrations are not permitted on this island. We would also like to take this opportunity to say that we will halt any such celebrations if we receive information.” read the announcement by the council.

The council would also not be responsible for any losses faced by halting the celebrations if they are held against the announcement. Thulusdhoo is home to several guesthouses in the country and is frequented by tourists who visit the country as a local tourism hotspot.
