A survey has commenced in Gdh. Thinadhoo and Fuvahmulah, to capture the level of understanding in the society of violence against children and youth.
The survey is conducted by Maldivian Red Crescent and Canadian Red Cross.
The Violence Prevention Project is a three-year project, undertaken with the purpose of educating the public on violence against children and youth. The project was initiated following increased reports of violence against children and youth.
The survey, which is part of this project, will also study the cultural attitude of the society towards violence against children and youth.
Maldivian Red Crescent said that through the survey, efforts will be made to build a culture which is opposed to violence against children and youth.
The survey is currently under way, and its report will be presented to the relevant authorities on 30 September.
