President reconstitutes Higher Education Council

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has reconstituted the Higher Education Council, and appointed Minister of Education Dr Asim Ahmed as its President.

Members of the Council are Minister of Health Dr Ahmed Jamsheed, Minister of Human Resources, Youth and Sports Mohamed Hussain Shareef, Minister of Finance Abdullah Jihad, Minister of Economic Development Ahmed Mohamed, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Ahmed Shafeeu and Minister of Environment and Energy Dr Mariyam Shakeela.

From the public sector, the Council includes Chancellor of the National University Dr Mohamed Zahir Hussain, Minister of State for Education Aminath Ali, Dr Ibrahim Hassan, Minister of Islamic Affairs Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed and IGM Hospital’s Consultant in Gynaecology Dr Jumailath Beygum.

From the private sector, the Council includes Rector of Villa College Dr Ahmed Anwar.

It also includes Director General of Department of Higher Education Fathimath Amira.
