The dismissal of the Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi and Justice Adam Mohamed Abdulla submitted by the Judicial Service Commission has been forwarded to the Judiciary Committee of the Parliament.
The JSC decided to suspend the Chief Justice and Justice Adam for 60 days after finding them guilty of committing acts that violated the high standards for ethics and discipline set for judges in the constitution.
A statement by the Commission yesterday read that the decision to suspend the Chief Justice and Judge Adam and submit their removals to the Parliament was to uphold the public’s faith in the judiciary.
The JSC is also investigating cases against two other Supreme Court judges. The case against the Chief Justice stems from decisions made by the Supreme Court that violated the Constitution.

Chief Justice Ahmed Abdulla Didi refused to accept the advisory documents as well as the investigative report issued by the JSC regarding that case against him.
The Chief Justice was also defiant in the face of the Commission when he refused to accept the notice of summons for the disciplinary hearing against him at the Commission.
Justice Adam Mohamed also excused himself from the hearing against the ongoing case against him by the JSC. Justice Adam refused to attend the hearing on the basis that the order sent to the judge to attend the hearing was a void order.
