Maldives’ first STEM Fest successfully concluded

The two-day Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics festival, STEM Fest 2019 has been successfully concluded in suburban Hulhumale’.

STEM Fest – organized by local non-profit Women in Tech Maldives – is the very first such festival to be held in Maldives.

It was held over last weekend in suburban Hulhumale’, and was participated by 20 exhibitors.

The exhibitors included state companies and institutions, colleges, universities, private companies and startups.

Women in Tech Maldives’ vice president Niuma Faiz said the STEM Fest 2019 had been successful considering that it was only the first edition of the event.

The Women in Tech Maldives thanked everyone who visited the festival.

“I also thank the participants of the exhibition on behalf of Women in Tech. We managed to conclude the exhibition on such a successful note through their effort,” said Niuma.

According to Women in Tech Maldives, the main purpose of STEM Fest was to raise awareness on opportunities available in the field of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, to showcase local innovations in the fields, and to showcase and provide information on all digital services available in the fields to the local community from one platform.

Women in Tech Maldives also conducted activities for children to develop and foster the interest of the future generation in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The local non-profit says it plans on holding a bigger event in 2020.
