Expenses of Presidential palace down by 7 percent for 2020

The expenses of the residences of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Vice President Faisal Naseem has been reduced by 7 to 11 percent.

The state budget for 2020 included MVR 26.4 million for the presidential palace of Muliyaage. That is a reduction of seven percent from the MVR 28.5 million spent on the Muliyaage in 2019.

A reduction of 11 percent at MVR 7.3 million is included in the budget for the Vice President’s residence in Hilaaleege.

It is also estimated that the expenses of Muliyaage would rise in 2021 and 2022. Around MVR 133.27 million is designated for the President’s Office in 2020 which is a reduction of 14 percent from the MVR 156.48 million spent on the Office in 2019.
