Opposition MPs have disrupted the Parliament session soon after it began today.
The opposition MPs expressed their discontent with the fact that the Speaker of the Parliament did not attend the Parliament to take part in the Judicial Service Commission’s meeting scheduled for today to discuss Judge Hailam’s case.
The events inside the Parliament occurred as the Health Minister Abdulla Ameen was answering questions from MPs. The questioning session was interrupted by Maavashu MP Mohamed Saeedh who stated that the Speaker of the Parliament was meddling with the judiciary and trying to influence the verdict in the money laundering trial of former President Abdulla Yameen.
After this, scenes of chaos erupted inside the Parliament as some of some MPs raised their voices to convey their dissatisfaction and even went as far as to blow whistles inside the Parliament. Governing MDP MPs also responded to opposition MPs by raising their voices during which the Parliament came to a standstill for around 10-15 minutes.
