Lengthy queues lead migrant worker registration to be moved to National Stadium

The lengthy queues formed by migrant workers near the Regularisation Unit of Economic Ministry has prompted the Ministry to move the registration process to the National Stadium.

Migrant workers have been queuing up near the unit dan and night since the Ministry announced that it was offering a second chance for illegal migrant workers to get registered to work in the Maldives. The Ministry had been issuing just 100-150 numbers per day for registration.

Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof had tweeted today that he had started working with the Economic Ministry and Minister Fayyaz Ismail to end the issue of migrant workers queuing up at the Regularisation Unit. Minister Fayyaz had spoken of opening another center for the registration process previously.

The Minister had also stated that the registration opportunity was open all over the country and not just in the capital Male' city.
