Maldives, Sri Lanka exchange 4 documents including visa waiver agreement

Maldives and Sri Lanka has exchanged four agreements including a visa waiver agreement.

The agreements were exchanged at the President’s Office this Monday as part of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s official visit to Maldives.

The four agreements are: a visa waiver agreement, an agreement for cooperation in vocational training for youth, an agreement for cooperation in social protection, and an agreement for cooperation in higher education.

The visa waiver agreement was signed by Maldivian Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid and Sri Lankan Internal and Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardhane. The agreements will allow Maldivian citizens who travel to Sri Lanka on-arrival visas for the duration of 90 days.

The agreement for cooperation in social protection was signed by Shahid and Sri Lankan Primary Industries and Social Empowerment Minister Daya Gamage.

The agreement for cooperation in higher education was signed by Maldivian Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan and Sri Lankan City Planning, Water Supply and Higher Education Minister Rauff Hakeem.

And the agreement for cooperation in vocational training for youth was signed by Maldivian Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Minister Ahmed Mahloof and Sri Lankan Ambassador to Maldives Major General (Retired) B.R.W.M.R.A.B Thoradeniya.
