MVR 800,000 for projects in three islands by Home Ministry

The Home Ministry has entered into agreements with island councils from three islands to aid in projects in those islands. The Home Ministry has set out MVR 800,000 to aid these projects that will be carried out in Lh. Olhuvelufushi, A.A Feridhoo, and F. Magoodhoo.

The Home Ministry announced that it will be receiving proposals from island councils to fund MVR 300,000 per project in islands. The Ministry has already entered into agreements with four island councils. The latest agreements amount up to MVR 835,644 for projects in islands and were signed by state minister Ali Nazeer. The agreements were signed by councilors from the islands on behalf of the island councils.

The project in Lh. Olhuvelifushi is to construct an outer wall around the island's cemetery and the Home Ministry will provide MVR 235,644 for the project while the island council will fund MVR 77,209.75. 

The project to build a children's park in A.A Feridhoo will be funded MVR 300,000 by the Home Ministry while the island council will fund the remaining MVR 400,000 for the project.

A project to renovate the lighting system on the roads of F. Magoodhoowill be funded MVR 300,000 by the Home Ministry while the council would fund MVR 382,000 for the project. 

The Ministry has entered into agreements with different island councils to fund projects totaling up to MVR 1.4 million in aid. The island councils that entered into agreements include N. Holhudhoo council, Th. Vilufushi council and N. Kudafari council. The Home Ministry stated that it will provide aid to 17 island council for different projects ranging from parks, lighting systems on roads, pier lighting systems.
