Gaafu Alifu Atoll Office

Former Assistant Secretary of Gaafu Alifu Atoll Office, Sheeza Ahmed had denied the state allegation in Court, that she used an office equipment for her own personal use.

In the case which was commenced yesterday, submitting the State appeal, PG’s lawyer, said that Gaafu Alifu Villingili, Shaheema Manzil, Sheeza Ahmed had kept an office sim card in her desk drawer without the knowledge of her superiors and that she had used an amount of Rf. 3731.36 as stated in the ACC report after their investigations. The lawyer also said that Sheeza had kept the sim-card for a total of two-months and 17 days and during that time had she used the amount Rf. 3731.36, as revealed by the Phone bill. The lawyer also said that till date, Sheeza has not paid back the money.

The State charges against Sheeza was under the Section 14 (a) and the same section’s (d) of the Anti-Corruption Act.

In her defense Sheeza, said that she denies the allegation set against her by the PG and that she would only talk under the assistance of a lawyer.

Yesterday, in the Court hearing, Criminal Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed said that Sheeza has been given the chance to hire a lawyer.
