Surf spots to be developed in 5 islands

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment has made the decision to develop five surf spots across Maldives.

The decision was announced in a tweet by Sports Minister Ahmed Mahloof this Wednesday.

The surf sports are to be developed in:

  • N. Lhohi
  • M. Muli
  • L. Maabaidhoo
  • G. Dh. Vaadhoo
  • G. Dh. Gadhdhoo
  • Fuvahmulah City

Minister Mahloof said the five surfing spots, with huts and surf board racks, will be developed in association with the Maldives Surfing Association (MSA).

Mahloof said in his tweet that surfing was a sport which has brought many international achievements to Maldives, and is expected to bring more glory to the country.

Surfing is a popular sport in Maldives, especially among the youth population.
