Shifau to Clemency Board; Jeehan to Anti-Trafficking National Steering Committee

Ihavandhoo MP Mohamed Shifau has been nominated as the next parliamentary representative at the Clemency Board, and Hinnavaru MP Jeehan Mahmood has been nominated as the next parliamentary representative at Anti-Human Trafficking National Steering Committee.

Shifau’s was the only name nominated for the Clemency Board, and Jeehan’s was the only name nominated for the Anti-Human Trafficking National Steering Committee when the opportunity was opened at the Parliament this Monday morning.

Both names - nominated by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) – which enjoys a supermajority at the Parliament – are expected to pass the vote which will take place later this Monday.

CLEMENCY BOARD

Clemency Board is made up of 11 members. The last parliamentary representative at the Clemency Board was Ungoofaaru MP Jaufar Dawood.

ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE

Anti-Human Trafficking National Steering Committee is made up of 14 members. The last parliamentary representative at the committee was Gaddhoo MP Ahmed Rasheed.
