FIU of MMA to join Egmont

Financial Intelligence Unit of Maldives Monetary Authority has started work to join International Financial Intelligence Unit Egmont.

Two countries will need to endorse FIU of Maldives for the Maldives to join Egmont. FIU of Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh has endorsed the FIU of Maldives.

 A team of high post officers from FIUs of Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh visited Maldives to check if the Maldives FIU reaches all the required conditions.

Governor of MMA Ahmed Naseer and Head of FIU Ibrahim Ahmed Naseer met with the team from Sri-Lanka and Bangladesh.

MMA stated that the FIU is working very closely with the team and that they are taking different actions to make the unit more upright.

159 financial intelligence units are part of Egmont.
