The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has granted 15 scholarships in Islamic finance on Sunday, during the launch of the MMA Tamweel FinLit Festival, held at its premises.

The event was inaugurated by Education Minister Dr. Ismail Shafeeu, marking the beginning of a nationwide campaign to boost financial literacy and awareness of Islamic finance.

These scholarships, offered in partnership with INCEIF University Malaysia, will support recipients in pursuing an Executive Masters in Islamic Finance (eMIF). This programme aims to equip leaders with the skills and vision needed to drive enterprise and socio-economic development.

Of the 15 scholarships, five are fully funded, while ten are partially funded, showcasing MMA’s dedication to expanding access to advanced education in this field.

The eMIF programme is designed for working professionals and crafted by globally recognized scholars in both conventional and Shariah finance. It offers a multidisciplinary approach, fostering values, enhancing leadership skills, and preparing graduates to inspire positive change in their organizations and communities.

MMA highlighted that these scholarships align with its strategic objective to develop skilled professionals for the Maldives’ growing Islamic finance sector, reinforcing the nation’s position in this field.
