Ambassador: Maldivians in areas affected by Sri Lankan bombings unharmed

Maldivian citizens in areas affected by bombings in three churches and three hotels in Sri Lanka are unharmed, says Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Umar Abdul Razzaq reported to ‘Sun’ that there are Maldivian citizens staying at the Shangri-la Hotel in Colombo – one of the sites of the bombings, but that none of them sustained any injuries.

“We are conducting visits to hotels where Maldivian citizens are staying. We have not received report of any harm to a Maldivian as of yet,” said Umar.

Maldivian Embassy in Sri Lanka reports it is closely monitoring the situation and has urged everyone to stay indoors and away from areas targeted in the bombings.

Meanwhile, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid has issued a statement condemning the bombings.
