Two people arrested for saying

Two people were arrested last night for calling President Dr Mohamed Waheed a ‘traitor’ while he was returning from the final match of the Baibala Tournament, for which he was the Chief-guest.

A Police Media Official said today that the two arrested people are of 23 and 28 years of age, and that they were at the Dhonmaniku Sky view restaurant when they yelled ‘traitor’ and said other offensive words, at the President.

One of the arrested people belongs to a Baibala team.

Several people called the President a ‘traitor’ and called for his resignation while he was observing the Baibala final match.

The Police also had to control a dispute between a group and the Deputy Minister of Youth Naaif Shawkath while the match was ongoing.
