JP's Riyaz to seek Thimarafushi seat on Parliament

The MP for Kimbidhoo constituency, the Leader of the Joint Parliamentary Group of the government coalition, Abdulla Riyaz, has announced his candidacy for the Thimarafushi constituency in the upcoming parliament election.

Riyaz, who has also served as the Commissioner of Police in the past, announced his candidacy for the constituency with his birth island this morning via Twitter.

While Riyaz announced his candidacy, the current MP for Thimarafushi constituency, Mohamed Mustafa has announced that he would be seeking re-election on the MDP ticket.

The parties in the government coalition had decided to run in the parliament election separately.

The biggest party in the coalition, MDP, has decided to run for all constituencies. And the other parties have opened for primaries as well.
