All three arrested over election-related incidents released

All three individuals who were arrested in connection to incidents related to Sunday’s parliamentary election have been released, states Maldives Police Service.

Three people were arrested in election-related incidents between 8:00am to 5:30pm – the polling hours – under Operation Blue Tide, the special police operation launched for the elections.

Police, in a post on X on Sunday night, said all three individuals have now been released.

According to the police, one of the individuals was arrested from Male’ for showing their ballot paper.

Meanwhile, the other two individuals were arrested from Fiyoaree for creating a disturbance and disrupting voting at a polling station on the island.

No other disturbances have been reported from anywhere else.

Ruling PNC won supermajority in the parliamentary election that proceeded peacefully.
