Shazail appointed MD of Maldive Gas

Shazail Shiyam has been appointed Managing Director of Maldive Gas.

Shazial was appointed MD of Maldive Gas this Sunday, and is scheduled to report to office next Monday.

Shazail, who has a Masters in Technology Management has previously served as Deputy Minister at Ministry of Home Affairs, and has 12 years of experience in various civil service positions.

He also served as Chairman of Kooddoo Fisheries and as Deputy Minister at Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture and Ministry of Tourism during former Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s administration.

He was dismissed from his post after he sided with former Maldivian President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom in the rift which formed within the former ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) between Maumoon and Yameen.

He is a leading member of the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRCM) and campaigned for current President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in 2018.

Shazail is the first MD to be appointment on one of Maumoon’s slots during the current administration.

MD of Maldive Gas was previously served by Abdulla Maumoon.

Maldive Gas is a joint venture between State Trading Organization (STO) and Champa Oil and Gas.
