Drug traffickers arrested with large amounts of cash

Six drug traffickers have been arrested today with large amounts of cash in Ga. Kanduhulhudhoo.

Police said that 58 rubber packets plus one bullet-sized packet containing a substance suspected to be drugs, a stolen gold necklace, MVR31,000 and $600 in cash, and a cheque worth MVR2,000 have been found on them.

Sun Online has been informed that the Police commenced the operation in Kanduhulhudhoo based on information that drugs were being transported from Male’ to Kanduhulhudhoo.

Some of the arrested people belong to gangs in Male’.

Three of the arrested people were caught while dealing drugs on the streets of Kanduhulhudhoo.

Ga. Vilingili Police Station, Ga. Dhaandhoo Police Station, Ga. Gemanafushi Police Station and Police Intelligent teams are collaborating in carrying out similar operations in Ga. Kanduhulhudhoo tonight as well.

Police also found large amounts of empty rubber packets used for packing drugs following checks made today.

Of late, drug traffickers and users have been arrested in large numbers in Maldives.
