The leaning house on Lonuziyaaraiy magu, as a result of excavation at the construction area adjacent to the house, is to be straightened by Male’ City Council using a crane.

Galolhu Dhekunu Councillor Ibrahim Sujau told reporters today that the Council’s engineers are currently investigating the reasons behind the leaning house.

“Our plan is to use a crane to prop the leaning house, until further decisions can be made,” Sujau said.

He said that engineers had not advised against people continuing to live in the house, but if they do so, City Council would assist the residents to move to another location.

He also noted that the building was taller than the permitted height; however, no action will be taken against this just now.

He stressed that the first step is to identify and solve the threats posed by the leaning house to the residents in the area.

He urged the residents also to take the necessary action to protect themselves from danger.

A resident of the house told Sun Online that the 15 people living in the house were afraid, and planning to move to another location.
