Indian Ambassador Mishra calls on Maldivian Islamic Minister

Indian Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra has paid a courtesy call on Minister of Islamic Affairs of Maldives, Dr. Ahmed Zahir.

Ambassador Mishra called on Dr. Zahir at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs last Thursday.

During the visit, Dr. Zahir said he was honored to be called upon by Mishra and reiterated his commitment to maintaining the long standing close relations between Maldives and India.

Meanwhile, Mishra congratulated Dr. Zahir on his appointment as Minister of Islamic Affairs and said he looked forward to working together with Dr. Zahir on future projects between the two governments.

He also praised Maldivian culture, which he said he believed rooted from strong Islamic values practiced in the country.

Minister of State for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Ilyas Jamal; Deputy Minister of Islamic Affairs, Ahmadhulla Jameel; and Permanent Secretary at Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Musab Abdulla were also in attendance during the courtesy call.
