Maldivian Foreign Ministry has said that a temporary bio-metric clinic for German-Schengen Visa will be opened in the Maldivian capital on 27 January for those who wish to travel to Germany from the Maldives.

Foreign Ministry said that this would be the first time that Schengen Visa Application will be available in the Maldives.

The Biometric Clinic will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from 27 to 28 January 2019 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In case of increased demand, the clinic may be extended accordingly.

This is the first time Schengen Visa Application Service is to be provided in the Maldives, and is the result of the close bilateral ties between Germany and the Maldives. This Biometric Clinic aims ease the difficulties Maldivians face while applying for Visas to travel to Germany, including those participating in Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB) Fair in March.
