Imran appointed President of LGA

Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla has been appointed President of Local Government Authority (LGA).

The post of President of LGA is usually served by Minister of Home Affairs, and new Minister of Home Affairs, Imran, was officially appointed President of LGA this Sunday.

Ministry of Home Affairs, in its announcement, wrote that Imran is now responsible for answering to the Parliament on behalf of LGA, as required by Decentralization Act.

Article 140 of the Maldivian Constitution requires President to appoint a Cabinet minister to the Board of Directors of LGA who will be responsible to answering to the Parliament.
