Insight Consultancy Services (ICS) Maldives has launched an annual run to promote and campaign to reduce use of single-use plastics, The Zero Plastic Run.

ICS Maldives says the run will be held each year until it achieves its goal of putting a complete stop to use of plastics for daily use.

Registration is now open for the 1st Zero Plastic Run, a 5K run which will be held in Hulhumale’ on February 1, 2019.

All single-use plastics are banned from the run. And participants who complete the run will receive an eco-friendly medal.

ICS Maldives says the event does not begin with the run, but that participants will be able to join the campaign against single-use plastics by handing over single-use plastics for recycling to designated collection points in Hulhumale’ ahead of the run.

ICS Maldives has also appealed to participants to collect single-use plastic products thrown on streets they observe during their run and hand them over the collection points.

Following the run, all participants will take a special pledge to reduce use of single-use plastics.

ICS Maldives is a local financial consultancy firm. And the Zero Plastic Run is a new CSR project by the firm – which already runs a beach cleanup program, the Cleaning Quest.
