Minister of Tourism, Ali Waheed has held his first meeting with executive board members of Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI) since assuming office.
The meeting was held last Monday at the ministry headquarters.
Director at Ministry of Tourism, Mohamed Hassan reported to ‘Sun’ that Minister Ali Waheed has been meeting with tourism industry stakeholders for discussions since assuming office.
“Discussions centered on the tourism industry. Opinions were exchanged and he assessed the hopes and expectations. No decisions were made,” said Hassan.
Those who attended Tuesday’s meeting includes Vice Chairman of MATI’s executive board – businessman Champa Hussain Afeef, Chairman of Sun Siyam Group and Leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, and Managing Director of Villa Group of Companies and son of Speaker of Parliament Ibrahim Siyad Qasim.
Minister Ali Waheed has also held meetings with staff of Tourism.mv, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC), and members of Guesthouse Association of Maldives (GAM).
