5 arrested for conspiracy to carry out a gang attack

Maldives Police Service has arrested five suspects for conspiracy to carry out a gang attack in Male’ City.

The five suspects were arrested last Wednesday night near the Henveyru Petrol Shed.

MPS reports the five suspects were intercepted while waiting at the Henveyru Petrol Shed to fuel their vehicles after purchasing knifes and other such weapons from a shop.

The agency reports the suspects attempted to flee when approached by officers.

MPS said the case is under investigation, and did not disclose any further details.

The arrests come after a young man was stabbed near the Olympus Cinema on Monday night. The victim of Monday night’s stabbing is in critical condition at the ADK Hospital.
