Murder suspect Hamzath surrenders to police

Hamdhoon Hamzath, 18, from Hiyaa at L. Fonadhoo, wanted in the murder of Ibrahim Agil, has surrendered himself to the police.

Maldives Police Service says Hamzath handed himself over to the authorities last Monday evening, within hours MPS made the public announcement seeking him.

Agil was stabbed to death near Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) headquarters in Male’ City last Friday evening.

ADK Hospital reports Agil was dead when he was taken to the hospital.

Agil’s death was the latest in a series of gang attacks in both Male’ City and Hulhumale’. MPS says his murder is being investigated as a priority case.
