Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure says the list of toll rates for the Sinamale’ Bridge circulating in the social media is inauthentic, and that the ministry hasn’t yet finalized toll rates for the bridge.
Media consultant at Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure, Ahmed Fazaal Hussain reported to “Sun” the toll rates for the Sinamale’ Bridge will be published before the bridge is opened to the public.
The inauthentic list of toll rates for the Sinamale’ Bridge generated criticism with many opinionating the rates were too high.
Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced the bridge will be opened to the public on September 7.
Speaking to media regarding the grand opening of the bridge, Muizzu said he was confident the toll rates for transportation on top of the bridge “will not be a burden to the public”.
The Sinamale’ Bridge between Male’ City and Hulhule’ stretches 2 kilometers long. Public bus transportation on the bridge will be provided by Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
Thousands enjoyed the opportunity granted to take a walk on top of the bridge last Saturday evening.
