Muizzu: 5,222 forms for Hiyaa Accomplished taken out in 7 days

Total 5,222 forms were taken out for the Hiyaa Accomplished Housing Project or Vilimale-2 Housing Project within just seven days, says Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Dr. Muizzu, who is with President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on his current tour of Th. Atoll, said during a function held at Th. Guraidhoo this Wednesday morning that the Hiyaa Accomplished Project will ensure housing for the entire Maldivian population.

He said the support for the project was proof of the people’s trust in Yameen.

“It has only been just seven days. 5,222 people have taken out forms during the seven days, up until end of yesterday. The 5,222 forms taken out by end of yesterday demonstrates the citizen’s confidence in President Yameen that he will accomplish this,” said Muizzu.

He said the massive project didnot mean the government was focusing solely on housing and developing the Male’ region. But that land was being reclaimed across the country to provide housing for citizens in the regions they want, and to develop the country as a whole.

During his speech, Muizzu criticized the opposition’s housing policies. He said the opposition’s manifesto states housing will be provided from anywhere they wish, which is neither a presidential promise, nor makes sense.

“And because President Yameen announced the Vilimale-2 Project and because they felt they needed to counter it, they are saying now that they will tried to provide housing to all Male’ residents,” said Muizzu.

The decision to develop Vilimale’ – 2 under the Hiyaa Accomplished Project was announced by Yameen during the Independence Day function last July. Application for the project was opened this Wednesday and will continue until January 31.

1,000 hectors of land will be reclaimed for the project; including 230 hectors of land from Gulhifalhu and 800 hectors of land from Fushidhiggaru Falhu, which lays near the Emboodhoo Lagoon.
