Patriotism and protection of the religion of Islam is not part of the philosophy of the largest opposition political party, Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), says Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking during the function held this Wednesday morning at G. A. Kondey to mark successful completion of State infrastructure development projects on the island, Dr. Muizzu said protection of Islam was foreign to MDP’s philosophy, whereas protection of Islam and national development were integral components of incumbent President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s philosophy.

“Protection of Islam is not part of main opposition party, MDP’s philosophy. President Yameen’s philosophy is protection of Islam and development,” said Muizzu.

Muizzu said now was the time for everyone to unite in patriotism and strive for national development, if no one wants to see the country slip.

He said no one should allow one’s country and religion to slip from one’s hands.

“We shouldn’t allow our country and religion to slip from our hands. This is our country. Our religion,” said Muizzu.
