Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that it was by a mistake that he said that the EU has taken targeted action against the President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, and some of the cabinet ministers.
In a tweet sent out this morning, Ex-President Nasheed took to Twitter saying that EU has taken targeted action against President Yameen and the Supreme Court Judges and some cabinet ministers.
Nasheed then deleted the tweet and stated that it was by mistake that he declared that the EU has taken action. But still believes that action is required if things are not improved.
Although Nasheed declared it earlier in the morning, no action has been taken by the EU against any Maldivian.
The EU adopted a framework on targeted action against the Maldives and ordered to hold talks with the opposition parties and that action will be taken if things did not improve in the country.
On his visit to the Haa Alifu Atoll this week, President Abdulla Yameen said that 12 invitaitons have been sent to the oppositions and the talks should not be held with any pre-arranged conditions and noted the importance of an inter-party discussion to the political chaos in the country.
The President raised the question why the solutions to the oppositions aren't being shared at the discussion table.
