The forms which were destroyed in the warehouse fire in Vilimale' were the application forms for a housing scheme in 2005, says Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Development, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Maldivian government, and Muizzu himself has been targeted with allegations of deliberate destruction of housing applications as part of a cover-up.

In response to the allegations, Muizzu tweeted last Wednesday night that the forms destroyed in the warehouse fire were application forms for a housing scheme run by Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in 2005.

He said the fire has been reported to the Maldives Police Service.

Muizzu assured the public that application forms for housing schemes run by the current government are stored, scanned and digitalized.

The minister also previously addressed allegations people who did not meet the criteria were awarded flats during the last housing scheme. He tweeted that the flat award list circulating in social media was a doctored document.
