Former Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Ahmed Shareef has been appointed a member of Elections Commission (EC).
Shareef took his oath of office in front of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom in a function held at President’s Office this Tuesday.

The People’s Majlis provided its approval for Shareef during the sitting held this Tuesday morning.
The sitting was boycotted by opposition lawmakers. 33 lawmakers voted in approval of Shareef, and one lawmaker voted against – Thulhaadhoo MP Nazim Rashad.
Shareef previously also served as Secretary-General of EC.

He served as MP for Thimarafushi constituency after winning a by-election during the last parliamentary term, but lost at re-elections in 2014.
