Maldivian embassy opened in Thailand

An embassy of the Maldivian government has been opened in Thailand.

An announcement on the website of the President's Office today said that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has declared that the embassy in Thailand is officially under the Foreign Ministry.

The President's Office said that the purpose of the Maldivian Embassy in Thailand is to introduce the Maldives to the world and strengthen the investment and trade ties with Thailand. And the embassy would serveto strengthen the friendship with Thailand beside providing assistance to Maldivian businessmen and women in Thailand.

While an embassy has been opened at popular destination among a large number of Maldivian people and businesses, the appointed Maldivian Ambassador to Thailand is the Leader of DRP, Mohamed Nasheed.

He appointment was passed by the parliament last June but he is yet to receive the official letter of appointment.
