Home Minister, Azleen Ahmed has said that there is no doubt that capital punishment will be implemented before the end of this Presidential term.
In an interview with Sun Media today, Minister Azleen said that all preparations have been completed to carry out the death sentence and is being delayed due to necessary checks that need to be completed as it is a major decision.
Minister Azleen said that the death sentence will begin implementation this year but the exact date are unclear at this time.
Capitol Punishment is being implemented in the Maldives after 60 years after it's last implementation. Minister Azleen said that it is not something a group of people do not want to see in the Maldives but the current government would implement the Islamic law in the country.
Minister Azleen has said that preparations are complete to carry out death sentences before as well.
