Following an increase in violence near the schools, Maldives Police Service has said that security will be strengthened nears the schools.
Talking to Sun Media about the two attacks in two days on school students, Police Spokesperson Superintendent Ahmed Shifan said that police are currently active near the schools and more officers are set to be deployed. He said that currently, only traffic police are near the schools but security will be further strengthened.
While Police are set on strengthening security near the schools, the Ministry of Education, too, have said that they would increase security near the schools.
The State Minister at the Ministry of Education, Ahmed Shafeeu told Sun Media today that they would take the necessary steps to increase security by working with the authorities.
The Ministry and the Police have decided to increase security, a student of Thajudheen School was attacked and injured yesterday while a student of Dharumavantha School was stabbed today, both attacks took place at the end of the morning session.
