The house affected by a fire in Hithadhoo in Addu City in the predawn hours of this Sunday has been damaged beyond use, reports Addu City Council.
Deputy Mayor Mohamed Yasrif reported to “Sun” that the house - Aluminiumge - damaged in the fire was vacant at the time of the incident, but was used to store a large quantity of goods and had two rooms recently refurbished for rent.
“The fire originated from one of the rooms used for storage. The fire then spread out to the entire house. The house, along with its two refurbished rooms were burned beyond use,” said Yasrif.
The fire was reported to the Southern Area Hithadhoo Fire Station at 12:59 am, and the fire put out at 2:20 am, says the Maldives National Defense Force.
The fire is under investigation by the police.
