Education Ministry has said that they the teachers required for the schools will be set before the Academic Year begins.
While the Academic Year 2018 is set to begin on 14 January, some people have raised concerns saying that schools does not have the sufficient amount of teachers for the new academic year.
Talking to Sun Media on the issue, the acting Head of HR at the Education Ministry, Mohamed Waheed, said that the rumors have no basis and the teachers will be there when the schools reopen.
Waheed said that most of the 400 teachers sought by the Ministry has been signed and they have gotten the 600 teachers needed for the pre-school.
He said that for the subject where local teachers are not available, the Ministry have signed 120 new foreign teachers but are still looking for local teachers for the subjects.
Same as the teachers, the Ministry is also working to appoint Principals to the schools as well. And so for the schools where they cannot get locals, a foreign Principal will be appointed.
Over 8,000 teachers worked in the 212 schools in the country.
